Edgelands – The Exhibition

Many of my regular readers will have followed my feverish production of new images for my series ‘Edgelands’.
I began this series in late September 2013 as my degree project and have extended it beyond my initial capture area to include other interfaces between urban and rural landscapes in the county of Suffolk.
For some while now I have been engaged in preparing and submitting Arts Council England funding requests. In fact my first attempt at making a reasonable case was 12 months ago. After I graduated I put much more vigour into the request for funds by partnering with people like Suffolk Wildlife Trust, The Mix, and above all The Museum of East Anglian Life. It was Lisa Harris who responded very quickly and positively to my request to Suffolk County Council for suitable gallery contacts and she who helped me engineer a wider partnership deal.
Sadly, despite the help of all the people from organisations listed here, and others behind the scenes, the requests were turned down.
I decided that the process of supplication was too long and too prone to chance to justify going through a third application. Arts Council rules of engagement prevent work on a project commencing prior to any funding. I had lost 18 weeks of prime image making time so I bit the bullet and just got back to what I enjoy – making photographs.

Coupled with Lisa’s help and Elle from The Museum of East Anglian Life I can now say that my exhibition – Edgelands will open on 21st July and run through to March 2016.
